To enhance the information and communications technology (ICT) capabilities of personnel (faculty and staff) at state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the country, the University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (ITDC), under the Office of the Vice President for Development (OVPD), conducted a series of training webinars for SUC personnel via Zoom. With ITDC delivering 12 sessions of at least 12 technology and productivity training topics, this initiative supports the UP president's public service program for SUCs and aligns with the university’s public service mandate. From January to December 2024, this series of free ICT training webinars benefited a total of 973 faculty members and IT personnel from SUCs nationwide. During the first half of the year, at least 554 personnel participated in ITDC’s training webinars. In the second half, a total of 419 SUC personnel attended webinars held from July to December 2024. Throughout the year, an average of 81 SUC personnel participated in the training webinars.
The webinar titled "How to Secure Your Social Media Pages (Facebook)" was the most attended, attracting personnel from SUCs nationwide on March 15, 2024. Participants gained valuable insights and tips on securing their office or unit's social media pages on Facebook and avoiding account hacks. The session was attended by 193 SUC personnel and also addressed solutions for resolving issues in cases where these social media accounts are compromised.
With 163 attendees, the second most popular webinar was "Digital Well-Being Tech Tips and Tools," held on December 13, 2024. This session focused on technology tips, tools, and healthy habits for digital well-being, emphasizing physical and mental health, as well as coping skills and professional support in various environments, including home, school, and community settings.
On January 19, 2024, the webinar "Privacy Tips on Taking Back Control of Your Data" had 91 participants. This session aimed to raise awareness about different aspects of digital privacy and provided tips on protecting both online and offline privacy.
