UP SYSTEM VOIP SERVICES
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) refers to the umbrella term for technologies relating to the delivery of voice and multimedia communications across the internet.
The UP Information Technology Office likewise provides VoIP and internet telephony hardware and services to UP System Offices, providing them local numbers outside the Diliman Network. As with many VoIP solutions, the VoIP service provided uses packet-switched telephony to deliver calls over the Internet unlike circuit-switched telephony used by traditional telephone networks.
VoIP calls are similar to regular phone calls but are made over an internet connection rather than over a regular telephone line.
The main advantage of VoIP phone calls is that unlike regular calls, they are made through a (usually free) service provider. There are often no fees beyond the cost of the Internet access itself.
