In recent cybersecurity news, social media reports have surfaced from users alarmed over receiving an alert from Google that reads: “Government-backed attackers may be trying to steal your password.” Google then identified prominent journalists and professors as the targets of the recent attempts. According to a spokesperson from the tech giant, the warning received by some users may have been prompted by hacking attempts detected in the past month. This may have been caused then by a phishing campaign of hackers tied to the Russian government.
