On April 2, 2025, a free webinar titled “Software Testing in Higher Education Institutions” was conducted via Zoom, attracting over 337 participants. Attendees included representatives from the IT offices of the University of the Philippines’ (UP) constituent universities (CUs) as well as various state universities and colleges (SUCs).
The session featured Prof. Rowena C. Solamo from the UP Diliman Department of Computer Science, who shared her expertise on the technical aspects and key principles of software testing. During her presentation, Prof. Solamo emphasized how software testing underpins the development of stable and user-ready software. She also discussed its role in determining readiness for subsequent phases and providing critical evidence of software quality for future iterations.
Participants from SUCs across the Philippines joined the engaging one-and-a-half-hour webinar. Some of the public higher education institutions represented were Bataan Peninsula State University and Batanes State College (Luzon), Eastern Samar State University and Cebu Normal University (Visayas), as well as Sulu State College and Davao Oriental State University (Mindanao).
The webinar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, expertly facilitated by ITDC Director Paulo Noel G. Paje. This event is part of a series of training offerings delivered by ITDC in fulfillment of its public service mandate and in support of UP President Angelo A. Jimenez’s digital transformation initiative.
