UP ITDC Hosts Webinar on Low Code/No Code Applications Development



On 7 May 2025, the UP ITDC organized a free webinar titled Low Code/No Code Application Development Using Google AppSheet, aiming to equip UP IT staff, IT professionals from state universities and colleges (SUCs), and personnel from other institutions in the Philippines with knowledge on modern applications development techniques. Conducted via Zoom, the event gathered 516 participants from various universities, colleges and government institutions across the country.

The webinar featured Rinabelle G. De Jesus, a Collaboration Engineer at Maroon Studios Inc., a local Google partner specializing in enterprise solutions. She provided an in-depth introduction to the concepts of low code/no code application development, highlighting how tools like Google AppSheet enable organizations to streamline application building without requiring extensive coding expertise. De Jesus, a Google Cloud Certified Professional Google Workspace Administrator and Google Cloud Certified Educator, has extensive experience in deploying and optimizing Google Workspace (GWS) solutions. Her expertise also extends to designing tailored training programs and offering ongoing support to ensure the seamless adoption and effective utilization of GWS applications.

Throughout the two-hour session, De Jesus demonstrated the practical applications of low code/no code development. The app development demonstration showcased how institutions can leverage these tools to simplify workflow automation, data management, and process optimization. The event allowed discussions, with participants engaging in an interactive Q&A segment that allowed them to understand real-world applications of the low-code/no-code technology.



Representatives from several educational institutions, including Isabela State University, Palawan State University, Catanduanes State University, Philippine Normal University, Centro Escolar University, Rizal Technological University, Eastern Samar State University, Southern Leyte State University, Capiz State University, Mindanao State University-Maguindanao, Davao de Oro State College, and Central Mindanao University, among others, actively took part in the webinar, gaining insights into how low code/no code solutions can enhance their IT operations particularly in the area of software apps development.

In his closing remarks, UP ITDC Director Paulo Noel G. Paje expressed gratitude to the participants and speaker. He emphasized the importance of embracing innovative technologies to improve efficiency and digital transformation efforts within HEIs. He commended the engagement and collaboration displayed throughout the webinar, reinforcing UP ITDC’s commitment to empowering IT professionals with relevant and practical knowledge.

The webinar marked another successful initiative by UP ITDC in fostering technological advancement and skill-building within the academic IT community, paving the way for greater adoption of emerging digital tools across educational institutions in the Philippines. UPITDC offers training through webinars as part of its public service mandate. It also strongly supports the digital transformation initiative of UP President Angelo A. Jimenez.
