To help strengthen the information and communications technology (ICT) capabilities of the country's state university and college (SUC) personnel (faculty and staff), the University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (ITDC) under the Office of the Vice President for Development (OVPD), is currently offering a series of training webinars via Zoom in support of the UP President's public service program for SUCs, and as part of the University's public service mandate.
Most attended by SUC personnel across the country was the webinar topic "How to Secure Your Social Media Pages (Facebook)." Conducted on 15 March 2024, this webinar gave participants valuable insights and tips on how to secure one's office/unit's social media pages on Facebook and avoid account hacking. Attended by 196 SUC personnel, the webinar also discussed ways to resolve issues in case such social media accounts are compromised.
Garnering the second most number of attendees at 91 was the webinar topic titled "Privacy Tips on Taking Back Control of Your Data" held on 19 January 2024. This webinar provided an awareness on digital privacy in different aspects and tips on how to maintain your privacy online and offline.
A webinar titled "Securing Your Home Wireless Network" held on 19 April 2024 had 80 SUC personnel in attendance. This webinar gave instructions on how to make a secure home wireless network. It guided new users who do not usually configure their devices.
"What’s New with Google Workspace for Education?" had 68 SUC personnel in attendance. Held on 17 May 2024, this webinar presented some changes and new features of the Google Workspace for Education plan. This particular workspace is a set of Google tools and services tailored for schools to collaborate, streamline instruction, and keep learning safe. Google Workspace for Education offers multiple options to meet an organization’s needs and tools to aid teaching and learning, such as Classroom, Google Meet, Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Chat.
This series of free ICT training webinars is slated to run from January to December 2024. From January to June, at least 559 SUC personnel have already participated in ITDC's training webinars.
