UP ITDC Enhances Government IT Skills with Free Webinar on Information Systems Strategic Planning (ISSP)

In a bid to strengthen the IT capabilities of government institutions, the UP Information Technology Development Center (UP ITDC) hosted a free webinar on March 5, 2025, focusing on the Information Systems Strategic Planning (ISSP). The event, held via Zoom from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, brought together a wide audience of IT professionals and educators across the country.

With a total of 608 registrants, the webinar attracted representatives from eight University of the Philippines (UP) constituent university IT offices and various state universities and colleges (SUCs) spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Attendees had the unique opportunity to learn from Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary David Almirol, Jr., a distinguished speaker with extensive expertise in government digital transformation initiatives.

Undersecretary Almirol provided valuable insights into crafting strategic plans tailored specifically for the government sector, drawing from his wealth of experience and numerous accolades, including the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Award in Science, Engineering, and Technology in 2021.

The UP ITDC emphasized the importance of such training sessions in ensuring effective information systems management across government and educational institutions. Participating institutions included IT representatives from UP campuses such as UP Diliman, UP Manila, and UP Cebu, alongside SUCs like the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (NCR); Sorsogon State University, Central Luzon State University, Catanduanes State University, Apayao State College (Luzon); Bohol Island State University, Occidental Mindoro State College, Aklan State University (Visayas); and Davao del Norte State College, University of Southern Mindanao, South Cotabato State College (Mindanao).

This initiative reflects the UP ITDC's commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing digital innovation for a more efficient and connected government sector.
