UP ITDC Conducts BCP and DRP Jumpstart Online Workshop for UP and SUC IT Offices

The University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (UP ITDC) recently hosted an online Jumpstart Workshop on Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) for IT offices across UP and selected state universities and colleges (SUCs).

The session featured Joanna Rose T. Laddaran, Head of the Training and Entrepreneurship Education Division of the UP Diliman Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI). With extensive experience in education, research, enterprise development, and business continuity management, Laddaran shared her expertise on strengthening institutional resilience. She also serves as focal person of UP ISSI’s Honing Agents for National Disaster Awareness (HANDA) Program, Director for Diversity and Inclusion of the Business Continuity Managers Association of the Philippines (BCMAP), and founding member of the Women’s International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR) – Philippine Chapter.

The three-hour program guided participants to:

  • Differentiate between BCP and DRP
  • Identify their top five mission-critical IT services
  • Define preliminary Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
  • Pinpoint top five institutional IT risks
  • Commit to a 30-day BCP/DRP action plan

Held on 24 April 2026 (9:00 AM–12:00 NN) via Zoom, the workshop gathered 156 attendees from UP’s constituent universities and three SUCs: Northern Bukidnon State College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Siquijor State College.

This initiative highlights UP’s commitment to its public service mandate and supports the vision of UP President Angelo A. Jimenez to modernize institutional workflows and foster inclusive engagement across the academic community.
